The year was 2018 and I had been working on a client project for 15+ hours.
All was going well. I had been working on this painting every day for over a week, and it was becoming so good. I was so proud.
And then one day…
I lost all progress.

You can imagine my dread when I realized I did not want to become a diplomat anymore. Or work in the government. Or do anything with my Law degree, for that matter.
I could have kept going with the flow – many people stay in a job they hate only for the paycheck.
Enduring long hours of misery to enjoy a brief respite on weekends.
How draining is that?

In hindsight, it’s easy to identify the pattern. But even though I painted every day, it took me a few years to understand why some paintings built connections with other people while others fell into oblivion.

Almost every artist knows that AI “art” is being created by the thousands each day, and many fear for our future.
Do we have a place in a world that expects art to be generated in seconds?

Many artists make the mistake of setting vague or overly ambitious goals. They dive into their work without a clear direction, hoping to see improvement without a plan.

The result? They often feel frustrated and stuck, with little progress to show for their efforts.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. There are some steps you can follow to set great goals that will get you to great places.

My art journey was not quick and easy. I thought of giving up many times.

How could I continue drawing if I always hated the result?

I see this happen to other artists all the time as well. But there’s a secret if you want to improve your art and start having fun with it.
